Welp, here she comes!

Yup. If all goes well, Mom will be home this Tuesday. If she could literally bounce off the walls, she would. My delight is muted for some reason. I guess it's "until it actually happens, we'll see" with me. This road's been long and difficult for my sister and I.

And indoor recess over the last two days. Erp. Anyway, that's what has been going on with me. Also, 'Yankee privateer' is not worth reading.

News

My grandmother left the hospital yesterday and is back in her apartment. A nurse comes by a few times a day to check on her and help her out. My mom, meanwhile, continues her saga but not for much longer.

I really don't have get-togethers on the brain. So I don't think I'll be going to one that's supposed to be happening tonight. Lots of snow fell yesterday. Do I really have to think about Xmas?

Snow, where are you?

I miss the days before climate change became so prevalent and so visible. Anyway, mi madre continues her tour of the city's hospitals. An even greater distance for me to travel. If it's for the best, I know better than to complain.

I trust the two or three people still following this blog of mine are doing well.

A quiet weekend

I just came down with a cold. There's a COVID outbreak at the hospital where my mom is. No visiting this weekend. This is going to feel weird - I'm used to visiting my mom often. First the visits dropped to once a week from 4 times a week and now the outbreak forces a pause.

On the literary front, I'm reading 'As I lay dying'. It's the corrected text; which makes me wonder what was corrected. And will I want to try to find the uncorrected edition? There's a movie made of this book with James Franco and other people. I don't plan to go looking for the movie.

I'm still simming. I don't have much else to say about that.

Update

Medical situations at summer's end. I had a great summer and then pneumonia made my family miserable. Also I've been very lazy.

So my mom had really bad pneumonia and has been moved around to several hospitals as things got worse and then things got better. Now she's in a hospital doing physio and OT. Once she's strong enough, she'll go home.

The pneumonia was a blessing in disguise. Stuff was discovered. Anyway, work is fine and I bought a new couch over the summer before Mom got sick. That's the update.

Still alive

Just posting right now as it has been over a month since my last post. Tomorrow is the last day of the school year. The kids had their last day today. My God, they were essences of pure chaos. But that should be expected.

I know I should have posted before but life gets in the way. Meanwhile, my interests are changing from PIF fascination to true horror. I will elaborate one day about this. Here comes the summer. Ahhh.

No worries; I am still Simming. Now that it's the summertime I suspect more Simming awaits. Anyway, I trust the few who follow this blog are living extraordinary lives and doing very well. Oh, and I learned about Gerald Ratner's speech of speeches recently. Twit.

Less than that, actually. Summer gets closer all the time. It's a lovely thought. Meanwhile, I hope ye few and awesome are doing well.

This is nothing special

 Just another collection of pics.

I hope you are well and safe today.

Hey

The rain started early today and the kids stayed indoors for recess. Kinda annoying. Meanwhile, I'm not going to ask "How did time fly so fast?" I already know the answer. The school year is done in eight weeks. Geez.

I found a neat podcast recently. Only issue is that it's just two dudes talking and no audio from the movie they're discussing. Kinda disappointing. So that's all for now.

Upanishads

Yeah. That's what I'm reading today. Eknath Easwaran has done something with their translation. Definitely aimed at yer regular neophyte of the 21st century. Still, their turns of speech make sense. I'm enjoying it. I don't think I've read the original take, mind you. The Bhagavad Gita is in this tradition but it comes later.

At the beginning, when the hero confronts Yama, I fear I got a DragonBall Z vibe. Goku and Lord Yemma stuff. Anyway, it rained a fair bit the past couple of days and was snowing today. Ugh. But the warmer days are coming back. They ought to - considering we're on the other side of April.

Not much else to say. I hope the few that still follow me are doing well. That's all.

Reading between...

Now I can truly read between the lines! Went to see the optometrist this weekend. Had an issue with my left eye. Tired, dry eyes. My oculars weren't gu
shing properly. So now I have eye drops and apply a warm compress every day.

However, a reader needs help once in a while.

Mine eyes are super powerful now! Oh, and the solar eclipse was properly anti-climactic here. Thick clouds strike again.

  That's all for now.

I was mean one day

So a Sim was working on a metal sculpture. Then a spark from the torch ignited and I decided to be mean.

The wild thing about this? She was hydrophobic in life. Now, as a ghost, she flips out before going into the shower.

Life with sims. Hope everyone out there is doing well.

Lovely

Best way to kick off Spring Break? Get a cold and follow that up with a sprain! So I slipped on one of the steps in my unit and bent my left ankle weirdly. Now it's bruised, swollen, and not at all pleased with me. Urgent Care is currently at a 6-7 hour wait and the nearest minor injury clinic is booked all day today and all day tomorrow.

Absolutely chuffing marvy, innit? So all I can do right now is elevate my ankle and ice it. I also have tylenol and ibuprofen on hand. If I straighten out my foot, no complaints. If I bend it so I can stand upright, the crying begins. My cold is less of a concern as a result of this mess.

I elevate my foot and ice it until my foot falls asleep. Then I put the ice pack back in the freezer. Already my right leg complains about needing to take up the slack. Meanwhile, the beast is wondering about this whole thing. Oh, and dinner's in an hour for her.

So yeah. Lots of wonderful stuff going on. At least I didn't take a full tumble. I honestly doubt I'd still be around to complain if that happened. Stay safe, folks.

Spring Break Approacheth!

It's only a few hours away! I stand ready to do absolutely nada! Well, besides reading and goofing around. Easter will be here before long.

  Nothing else to say.

So, I'm kinda old

But age is but a number, innit? I had my birthday recently. Today marks the fourth anniversary of COVID's arrival to Winnipeg.

Went over my journal entries from that time. It seems like many years ago at times and other times, not so much. Very uncertain time. I looked over my blog entries from that time as well. Mutable, those days were.

At least things have somewhat returned to normal. I have a Friday off. Not gonna do very much. Oh, and Spring Break approaches. More lazy days to enjoy. I hope ye few followers are doing well.

Hydro Shenanigans

Actually, make that weather shenanigans. Freezing rain leading to blowing snow. That and the occasional blinking light overhead. Meanwhile, there were outages here and there across the province. A hospital lost power, schools (including my workplace) lost power last night.

Manitoba Hydro was hard at work through the night. Now I'm listening to the kids talk about being in the dark and what they did. Meanwhile, I kept my phone charged and my candles at the ready just in case stuff happened. Luckily, nothing happened in my neck of the woods.

Hope you are all having a safe and decent Monday.

Spending money

 Never had a blow-out before.

Looks bad, doesn't it? Anyway, I got the car towed and looked at today. Bad timing, as it was Louis Riel day yesterday and the garage was closed. Anyway, long story short, I will need to spend even more money as there is something else wrong with this turd of a car.

I also had to take a walk to the grocery store over the weekend. Note to self; walking with the wind at yer back is much bettet than walking with the wind in yer face. Also, don't buy 7 kg of litter if you don't have a car. My arm muscles had a few four letter words for me the next day.

And that's what's going on with me.

Chill in the air

But staff appreciation week has me stuffed so I just don't care! Festival du Voyageur starts today. With only a dusting of snow on the ground, there are no sculptures to speak of. Kills the vibe for me. Death to El Nino and all that.

Meanwhile, here comes Louis Riel day. Three day weekend!

Freezing rain, eh?

So the lights flickered a few times at work and the power went out a couple of times. Not conducive to calm classrooms. The power appears to be holding steady.

The power did not fail in my neighbourhood, mind you. Anyway.

Yes, I am alive

Feburary is a month of purpose. Shame it's such a grey month. Perfect time to discuss mental health matters.

Then again, any time is perfect. Mental health is more important than physical. Hope ye few viewers are doing well.

Wonder if the kids are doing this outside?

Indoors again

One reprieve and then the kids were back indoors. When will things warm up enough to let all that pent-up energy outside? Is Friday the day our luck turns?

Anyway, I finished a really good book by Isabel Allende. Now I hope to find more of her works.

Arctic incoming!

Really, Alberta clipper? Okay, it's true we were overdue for the snow. For about two days, things were dicey. But the plows were out before long and things were good. Then the deep freeze threatened. Indoor recess two days in a row and more promised next week

Yeah, it's frustrating. Also, something is borked in my Sims game. I'm still playing but one of the sims is a bit ropey. Anyway, here's a dude I spotted a while ago.

Happy chappy, no? That's all I have for now. Things are going to be wild next week. The chill won't be going away very soon. Yeah, we were spoiled.

Lousy freaking Alberta Clipper. Tons of snow. Lousy roads. At least I have food at home.

How are you? First week back for me. That's all.

Um

So here we are in 2024. How did this happen? I could yammer about the world coming to an end but that's being a follower. So here's a face instead.

I spent a lovely evening with la madre. We gorged on kimchi potstickers, spring rolls, and worthless mozza sticks. We watched two movies from my childhood. I came home at nine because cats need food and I really did not want to be on the road with drunk drivers.

I rang in the New Year with the cat. Okay, 2024. Humanity's still on the brink. Either pull us back or just violently heave us into destruction. All this indeciveness is annoying. All the best to my few viewers. Be safe and well this year.
