I had my birthday recently. Today marks the fourth anniversary of COVID's arrival to Winnipeg.

Went over my journal entries from that time. It seems like many years ago at times and other times, not so much. Very uncertain time. I looked over my blog entries from that time as well. Mutable, those days were.

At least things have somewhat returned to normal. I have a Friday off. Not gonna do very much. Oh, and Spring Break approaches. More lazy days to enjoy. I hope ye few followers are doing well.

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-83142630980177673822024-03-04T10:01:00.004-06:002024-03-04T10:01:46.219-06:00Hydro Shenanigans
Actually, make that weather shenanigans. Freezing rain leading to blowing snow. That and the occasional blinking light overhead. Meanwhile, there were outages here and there across the province. A hospital lost power, schools (including my workplace) lost power last night.

Manitoba Hydro was hard at work through the night. Now I'm listening to the kids talk about being in the dark and what they did. Meanwhile, I kept my phone charged and my candles at the ready just in case stuff happened. Luckily, nothing happened in my neck of the woods.

Hope you are all having a safe and decent Monday.

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-14004416814440238532024-02-20T19:27:00.005-06:002024-02-20T19:27:47.840-06:00Spending money
Never had a blow-out before.

Looks bad, doesn't it? Anyway, I got the car towed and looked at today. Bad timing, as it was Louis Riel day yesterday and the garage was closed. Anyway, long story short, I will need to spend even more money as there is something else wrong with this turd of a car.

I also had to take a walk to the grocery store over the weekend. Note to self; walking with the wind at yer back is much bettet than walking with the wind in yer face. Also, don't buy 7 kg of litter if you don't have a car. My arm muscles had a few four letter words for me the next day.

And that's what's going on with me.

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-83994447429975209762024-02-16T12:58:00.002-06:002024-02-16T12:58:15.772-06:00Chill in the air
But staff appreciation week has me stuffed so I just don't care! Festival du Voyageur starts today. With only a dusting of snow on the ground, there are no sculptures to speak of. Kills the vibe for me. Death to El Nino and all that.

Meanwhile, here comes Louis Riel day. Okay, it's true we were overdue for the snow. For about two days, things were dicey. But the plows were out before long and things were good. Then the deep freeze threatened. Indoor recess two days in a row and more promised next week

Yeah, it's frustrating. Also, something is borked in my Sims game. I'm still playing but one of the sims is a bit ropey. Anyway, here's a dude I spotted a while ago.

Happy chappy, no? How did this happen? I could yammer about the world coming to an end but that's being a follower. So here's a face instead.

I spent a lovely evening with la madre. We gorged on kimchi potstickers, spring rolls, and worthless mozza sticks. We watched two movies from my childhood. I came home at nine because cats need food and I really did not want to be on the road with drunk drivers.

I rang in the New Year with the cat. Okay, 2024. Humanity's still on the brink. Either pull us back or just violently heave us into destruction. All this indeciveness is annoying. All the best to my few viewers. Be safe and well this year.

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-87676511615683066592023-12-23T18:34:00.004-06:002023-12-23T18:34:25.700-06:00Several words
MERRY CHRISTMAS! I finally got all my shopping done. It's just a matter of wrapping things up in my usual half-assed manner.

2024. Hope the situation of the world is better in the new year. The school year was such that our cut off date was the 22. Yikes. Well, at least we'll have lots of time to relax in January.

To the few who actually still read this blog; I wish you happy holidays; get plenty of good food and rest in ya. Plugged in the car last night as the temp dropped to appropriate levels. Just writing nothing in particular while band class performs passably. They are right next door, so that's all I can hear right now.

Here comes December. Yeah, no shopping done yet. No list made. Meh. Hoping ye few are well.

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-7257566233238943812023-11-26T05:19:00.005-06:002023-11-26T05:19:49.973-06:005 a.m.
On a Sunday morning, after we got a bit of snow, my neighbour's doing his helpful routine by blowing the snow away. Nice and helpful, but loud enough not to be appreciated at 5 in the morning.

I'm alive and doing all right. Been looking into the discography of the Cardiacs. Never realized how many of the Mare's post titles and projects were so deeply influenced by the band. Such stoneage dinosaurs. Anyway, Xmas is less than a month away.

Still messing with Albion Online. The chat is mostly trans talk with dumbasses popping in from time to time with political garbage. The game is fun anyway. Hit a bit of a personal high after I had a crafting success in the game. I'm nowhere near the amount needed to get a free month of premium; but I'm on the way.

I hope my few viewers (assuming I have any) are doing well.

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-20082672871360355342023-10-09T15:36:00.000-05:002023-10-09T15:36:01.413-05:00Thank ye!
Happy Thanksgiving! I'm especially grateful that I did not appear to get a concussion after I banged my poor brainbox yesterday. I'm also grateful that Austen's 'Persuasion' is behind me. Nothing could persuade me to read it again.

Dinner at Mom's this evening. Neko's wandering around wondering why I haven't yet fed her. About half an hour to go before then. Nothing like a four day work week. The weather is going to be nice this week coming up. Another thing to be grateful for.

All the best to you, my two or three followers. If you're from the States, your turn will come for the turkey! So, that's all for now

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-82378068011405779612023-10-07T06:14:00.000-05:002023-10-07T06:14:00.742-05:00Austen
So I started reading 'Persuasion' by Jane Austen. The last published book by most authors is usually worth looking into. Perhaps not Robert Jordan's last efforts (but Sanderson took over that ponderous task), but I haven't wasted my time with Wheel of Time since 'Crossroads of twilight'. I think that's what it was called

But back to Austen. Before I took up 'Persuasion', I read a book called 'Victorian religion'. All the authors of the time discussed vicars and curates in their novels. Austen was no different. I wonder if she mentions them in this novel. Oh, and I hope the two or three followers still wasting their time have a wonderful Thanksgiving.

We celebrate it in October, y'see. My cat is getting peckish. Pain in the butt. About an hour to go before breakfast.

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-74906616825820010222023-09-26T22:32:00.006-05:002023-09-26T22:32:34.393-05:00At long last
Finally sitting down with Stacey's 'A very double life'. I've been intrigued about this book since I heard Christopher Plummer's take on Robertson Davies' take on Mackenzie King. Talk about hearsay, amirite? I have wanted to read this book for a while.

Now I have it here thanks to the WPL. I don't plan to buy a copy. This reading will be enough. Hello to Wednesday!

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-65143778619950861522023-09-16T09:03:00.000-05:002023-09-16T09:03:21.306-05:00Sir Wilfrid Laurier
That bio of Lester Pearson is behind me. Still my cup needeth filling. Speeches by our five-dollar face? He looks grumpy on the cover of the book. 'Canada always'. If there was anyone who believed deeply in Canada in its infancy, it was Sir Wilfrid. How would he feel about the likes of PM Deadeyes, Joe Who, John Who, PM for 5 minutes, or the PM Unnatural Disaster (and his lovely wife Mila) commenting on his great efforts?

Perhaps he is right to look so grumpy.

Anyway, that is all for now.

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-49394325891139719872023-09-14T12:58:00.001-05:002023-09-14T12:58:40.372-05:00Mike
Mike Pearson. The Right Honourable Lester B. Pearson. Dude won a Nobel Peace Prize. Dude has an international airport (and much more) named after him. I'm reading English's 'Shadow of Heaven'. Young Pearson.

And it's Thursday. Pretty wet out today. On a political binge of late.

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-44207924307810437262023-09-11T12:54:00.002-05:002023-09-11T12:54:59.084-05:00LED
I bought a new floor lamp yesterday. It took time to put together. Stressful. Anyway, the lamp is pretty good. Got a nice discount. Many thanks, Canadian Tire.

The kids can borrow books starting today. So far so good.

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-11641001001723233672023-09-06T08:56:00.001-05:002023-09-06T08:56:26.535-05:00A Wednesday
Pretty normal. The kids have their first day back this Friday. Yesterday was a little maddening. Power outage, a crawl through a parking lot, and running out of time to do stuff at the end of the day.

Anyway, September looks promising.

BYE
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-8800795187458860928.post-80453632481044173562023-08-28T13:14:00.001-05:002023-08-28T13:14:06.140-05:00It seems like...
Okay. It seems like I'm letting the blog fall by the wayside... AGAIN. Well, I'm back to work tomorrow. Summer flew by stupid fast... as usual. I can't promise owt. Anyway, hope the two of you had a good summer.

Meanwhile, life's been okay. My lamp literally fell to its death the other day. I need to go buy a new floor lamp. No, I didn't it push it over! It just fell off its base and broke. ðŸ˜

That's all.

BYE.
L.B.http://www.blogger.com/profile/02615221613694891592noreply@blogger.com0
