I am feeling so accomplished

Understandably, this could probably be said in a handful of tweets but I prefer this ancient mode of communication. Now, I am on Discord but long before that I was on Skype. After Spring Break the staff is meeting on a Skype call. This is something I have never done before. Not with anyone face-to-face. My webcam is older than my cat and she was born in 2012. Luckily my webcam still plays nicely with Skype, I think.

My brain keeps trying to go out my ears as I try to work. I am so glad this week is over and I have Spring Break to look forward to. And the weekend is here. I am going to go for a nice walk at some point this weekend, I think. That or I'll stay indoors and play TS3 all day.

Just this quick bit and now I'm done.

Anti-social is status quo

Hello everyone! I hope the two or three who still follow this blog are keeping their isolation and social distancing up. Make sure to wash yer hands as well. COVID-19 continues to cover the planet with its deadly pall and things will get worse before they get better. My new favourite site has to be worldometers.info with its constantly updated page about the coronavirus. The U.S. is slowly but surely catching up to Italy, Switzerland keeps getting hammered, and Canada has left Australia behind for good. For a moment they were constantly neck-and-neck but now Canada's moved on.

Enforcing self-isolation and social distancing is much like stopping booze thefts from the LC. Good luck with that! I've been rereading 'House of the dead' by Fyodor Dostoyevsky and I'm thinking that all sensible leaders could use a Siberia right now. Apologies for the healthy dose of bitter cynicism but people are stupid in general. The newest name for the entitled jerks is 'Covidiots'. It fits nicely, don't you think?

Just posting to remind my few followers that I'm doing all right and staying indoors for the most part. Today I went grocery shopping and let me tell you that it's hard to keep a 2m distance between myself and people who are just waiting in line for the cashier. I kept ducking in and out of aisles trying to keep away from people. I felt a little silly about it but I don't want to end up like the Prince of Wales. Yeah, he's got COVID-19. Yikes. This is going to get worse before it gets better. Of course, the world death toll is still less than 50,000. We'll see where that number is in a month.

I'm playing TS3 as usual. I don't like Isla Paradiso all that much. Maybe it's just the house I have that family in. Plumbob knows I could move them to a rather expensive house. I love the shower/toilet combo that you can use for your houses, mind you. It's like when people pee in the shower, isn't it? Anyway, I have pics for yer perusal. Then I'm moving on.

Incidentally, I am sorta here

Keeping the two or three who follow me up to date. I am still very much alive and well. COVID-19 might be hard at work cleaning up air pollution and sequestering people but I am still here and making my typical inane comments.

Manitoba's school divisions have gone into shut-down. The kids are going on a long Spring Break and all the staff are working. Essential services, folks. My school division has decided that we can work from home next week and the week after Spring Break. What can a library tech do? I have a list of stuff I can do from home.

While I get that working from home is a good idea when there's a nasty virus swimming through many bloodstreams, it's hard to stay focused on work when yer at home. Better safe than sorry, of course.

Now for a blast from the past. From a couple of diary entries from 2009, some most excellent history.

"I bought Sims 3 today and installed it. That game is going to eat up a fair bit of my time, good journal.[...] “Sims 3” is an awesome game. Nothing is in stasis in the neighbourhood. People age just like the family you’re playing, so you only have a while to know them, just as your family has only a short time to do their best. So many options and things to do. Definitely a wonderful game! One that shall rule my days for a long while to come."

Lovely bit of history, eh? I finally got around to typing this part of an old diary out and yes, this game still rules my days. That is all for now.
